‘Person Of Interest’ Season 2 Premiere Review – 2.01

My favorite show on television is back! The CBS hit Drama series, ‘Person Of Interest’ returns off of the huge Season 1 cliffhanger we were left with! With the whole main cast returning for a second season, Jim Caviezel (John Reese), Michael Emmerson (Harold Finch), Taraji P. Henson (Detective Joss Carter), season two is expected to be just as exciting as the first.

In the beginning of the episode, we finally get to hear what Reese hears while picking up the payphone. Letters are read to Reese as he immediately goes to FInch’s lair and deduces what the letters mean.  He uses Finch’s books in his personal library to find that Finch is read the numbers from the Machine in which he uses the Dewey Decimal System to put the numbers together for a social security number. He finds the man who the social security number belongs to thinking it will lead him to Finch. To Reese’s surprise, Finch and the Machine did not intend for the Machine to help find out what happened to Finch if anything ever happened to him, but to have the ‘Contingency’ continue on the work, being Mr. Reese.

Reese goes on taking care this week’s trouble making and tricky person of interest, Leon, while still trying to track down Finch. He continues to talk to cameras while appearing insane to Leon. The Machine finally gives in and decides to help John. The Machine gives John a newspaper article of a missing 14-year old in Texas many years ago, Caroline Turing, or known as ‘ROOT’, Finch’s kidnapper. Reese shows up at Carter’s house and tells her to pack her bags because they’re Texas.

With this weeks flashback, we get Finch taking the Machine out for some test runs and training it to ‘protect everyone’ and not himself, which would explain why the Machine initially made no effort to look for Finch after he went missing. The Machine is seen to have a few bugs which Finch will eventually iron out.

Finch and Turing or, ‘Root’, have conversations in restaurants, diners, and stores, throughout the episode, with Turing praising Finch for his masterpiece. She then reveals that she doesn’t want to control the Machine after Finch says he won’t help her do it. She says she wants to ‘set it free.

Verdict: Returning with the tricky plot twists and government conspiracy that we loved in Season 1, Person Of Interest is sure to be just as great as the previous season… especially since Reese has a new dog. 😀

See the promo to Episode 2, ‘Bad Code’, which airs this Thursday at 9 PM, below!

‘Eagle Eye’ 2009 Review – Movie Monday

Now going into this one, I wasn’t all excited. Shia Lebouf who is cool but nothing too special. Then Michelle Monaghan who isn’t so promising either. I remember seeing numerous TV spots and commercials about this back in 2009. I regarded it as just ‘A psycho computer talking to Sam from Transformers’.

To my suprise, this was a great and very entertaining film. It’s something about our country being so secretive and evil that is so appealing and entertaining. Government conspiracy stories are some of the greatest stories I’ve ever read in a book or watched on a screen. This movie in particular is very underrated.

Story: I really REALLY liked this one. The “WHO ARE YOU?” “We The People Of The United States…” was so freaking awesome. The story of both Shia and Michelle’s characters having to do all of these things to save themselves and their loved ones and not knowing at all why they’re doing it or who’s telling them to do what they’re doing. Shia’s character also seems to have natural action movie star skills and intelligence with a touch of Sam Wittwicki’s panic and ‘panzee’ness of the Transformers series. Shia Lebouf plays a very good “OMG I’M SO SCARED” kind of guy and does it really well every single time, most notably, Michael Bay’s ‘Transformers’.

What do almost all great thrillers have? An AMAZING set up for the story and what is to come. But the downfall? The set up is better than the resolution. Eagle Eye has a great resolution don’t get me wrong. It’s just, it wasn’t as great as we wanted it to be. SPOILER (Highlight To Read): Shia shooting into the air at the end. then getting shot was great. I just think it would’ve been more impactful if he didn’t make it out alive.

Some parts of technology in the film are a little out their going into what would then be considered ‘Sci-Fi’. But really, the whole film is science fiction. Maybe the government really did make a machine like this, we’ll don’t know. Until we do know, it would indeed be considered ‘Sci-Fi’. More so ‘Realistic Science Fiction’.

Now if you know me at all, you’ll know I’m a HUGE Person Of Interest fan. And this film shares a great resembleance to Person Of Interest. Eagle Eye is POI’s ‘Machine gone rogue’. The eye that is everywhere that watches all. Even the little graphics of the machine in both POI and Eagle Eye share similarities. How it looks through each camera, listens with each microphone, taps into every phone, hacks into every computer, TV, and anything with some sort of web signal. It’s a phenomenal concept that the government spies on us each and everyday which people have speculated before. Of course, the government has probably tried to do this, or they have done it, or they’re still working on it.

Cast & Characters: Like I said earlier in the post, Shia LeBouf does a great “OMG I’M SO SCARED” impression. He gave a great performance in this one. Michelle Monaghan also impressed me. I expected her to be lame and just plain boring. I found her quite interesting and exciting actually. Don’t forget Julianne Moore. Whaaat? What does she have to do with this? She is the voice of ARIIA. The Machine! Or the woman on the phone, whatever you want to call her. She had the perfect voice for the role.

Verdict: With intense action scenes throughout the whole movie mixed a government conspiracy to try to unravel and solid performances from Shia Lebouf and Michelle Monaghan, ‘Eagle Eye’ seems to be a keeper.

‘SUITS’ Season 2 Review – Part 1 – USA

Ok, so the first season of Suits was 12 episodes and was just about introducing everyone and their positions with a couple of twists, especially at the end. But lets be real here, Season 2 was KILLER! This is some of the best dialogue I have seen on any show before.

So we started the season with Mike coming under fire after his friend tells Jessica the he never went to law school. She takes him to dinner which Harvey says that a sign that she’ll someday make him a senior partner. They have a nice time as expected. Jessica knows Mike is ‘bullsh*t’ and that he and Harvey are hiding something. She still sees that Mike is a good kid, and chooses to let him stay.

Beginning the season like this and having to wait almost a whole year for this was hard. But we all knew Jessica wasn’t the bad guy. She just likes to keep people in line. And Harvey wouldn’t let Mike go. Harvey always knows what to do, doesn’t he?

Then Daniel Hardman returns to the lawfirm since his wife has died which is frightening to Harvey and Jessica, since they know he is going to do something against them unless they worship him.

Travis Tanner is then back in town, and has his eyes on Harvey and Harvey only. He accuses Pearson-Hardman (Harvey in particular) withheld evidence in a case where they represented Coastal Motors. Donna then discovers she was the one who recieved and signed for that document but she has no memory of this. The episode then just ended. I literally jumped out of my seat after seeing that. I couldn’t wait for the next episode.

A couple episodes later, Tanner lets go of the document due to Mike’s expertise. Then towards the end of the season, we get a ‘Rewind’ episode with a flashback of before Mike joining the firm and Harvey’s rise from associate to junior partner along with Hardman leaving the firm after cheating on his sick an dying wife and Harvey blackmail’s him.

Then at the end of the season, Hardman is revealed as the creator of the fake document that he tried to frame Harvey and the whole firm with. Hardman is kicked out of the firm, but he vows he will be back.

This season was really great. I loved every second of it. Especially the part in the last episode where Harvey and Mike get high and go to do pranks on Hardman’s office. Luckily, they don’t get themselves into trouble and uncover the whole mystery.

An amazing season. This is some of the best writing I’ve seen on TV in a while.

They’re taking a strange break with Season 2 and having 6 more episodes of ‘Suits’ tagged as Season 2 premiering in January 2013.

‘Person Of Interest’ Season 2 Promo Released

Now this is literally my favorite show on television. Probably, one of my most favorite TV shows of all time. I came upon this promo by accident today while looking for some trailers to review. This was released not too long ago today, so I’m pretty excited.

This looks pretty awesome.  First we see Finch ordering the Machine to protect everyone. An obvious flashback to when he was first building the Machine.

Then we see Reese talking to Carter to which she asks, “Why do you think she took him?” and he answers, “I don’t know”. So obviously Finch tells Carter about the situation so she can help him. The description for episode one of season two says that Reese gets Fusco and Carter to help him find Finch which is believable since he needs all the help he can get.

We then see Finch’s face with a red square. So we know by now a red square around someone means they’re in danger. So is something about to happen to Finch or is it saying that because the Machine knows he’s still under Root’s custody?

Reese then starts talking to camera’s again, but OH LOOK! It’s an asian man standing next to him. Who is this? I read somewhere that the Person Of Interest for episode one was an asian man but I can’t confirm it as of now. Some more theories? He could have information about the Machine or perhaps know Finch or something about him somehow.

We then end with Reese taking out some guys and smacking a guy on a motorcycle right in the face! YEAHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

So I loved this. If you’ve never watched Person Of Interest before, start watching it. I highly recommend you start with episode one of season one, because if you start when season two starts, you’ll be very lost. Especially when it shows flashbacks.

‘Person Of Interest’ Season 2 starring Jim Caviezel, Michael Emerson, and Taraji P. Henson premiere September 27, 2012 at 9/8 PM on CBS.
