‘Flight’ 2012 Review

This movie is a prime example of how movies dramas are still relevant in these modern times, where TV dramas like Breaking Bad, Homeland, and Boardwalk Empire get all the talk. It’s a prime example, because it shows that not all drama stories these days need to be 5 season long stories, but can rather be a two and a half hour story, and still be fantastic.

Story: The story is extraordinarily well done, as it accurately portrays how people would act in those situations. It touches on relationships with the people who are there to try and help Whip. Despite Whip being a normal alcoholic who doesn’t deserve all the love he’s gotten, one can’t help but feel pity for him, as he means to do the right thing, but as a true alcoholic, he can’t help but return to the bottle.

Music:  Flight features a good soundtrack, with songs by various artist, including Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, and many others. The music just goes so well the movie, fitting into the scenes that they’re used in perfectly.

Cast & Characters: The cast delivered their roles fantastically. Denzel Washington as Whip Whitaker, the main character, accurately portrays how an Alcoholic works. Don Cheadle gives a great performance as Whitaker’s lawyer, who is on top of his game, very confident, and only wishes the best for Whitaker. Other notable characters include John Goodman who plays Whitaker’s drug dealing friend, who provides comic relief in some tense situations. Kelly Reilly, who plays Nicole, the love interest of the film, is also great in playing her role as a recovering addict to drugs and alcohol.

Verdict: Go see this movie now. This movie’s story is fantastic, the cast and the characters are just absolutely great. This movie, is possibly the best movie of the year in the Author’s opinion.

Top Gun Sequel Cancelled?

Just a couple months after famed ‘Top Gun’ director, Tony Scott, committed suicide by jumping off of a bridge in San Pedro, we get news that his planned sequel to Top Gun that he had been working on prior to his tragic death with actor Tom Cruise has ‘fallen apart’.

The New York Times reports that the project that was being piloted by Tony Scott has seemingly fallen apart since his death.

Completed earlier this year by Legend3D, which specializes in converting conventional 2-D film, the three-dimensional “Top Gun” had been seen as a way to whet the world’s appetite for a sequel that was being planned by Mr. Scott, Mr. Cruise and the producer Jerry Bruckheimer.

But now the sequel has fallen apart. And Paramount and its partners are left with a 3-D film that might be perceived by moviegoers as a tribute to a director whose death remains a mystery to many friends and associates. It might also become a final box-office triumph — but only if the studio can reach the audience without seeming insensitive or exploitative.

Does it matter why you’re putting a great film back on the market for people to see again? Plus, who cares about 3D? Lets just see it back on that big screen again!
