‘MELLOWHYPE WEEK’ Review

Hey its Jay again, with another music review.

So, Odd Future has came back with another set of releases for their fans. The sub-group, Mellowhype, were originally going to release a mixtape. However Hodgy Beats, the rapper of the duo, decided to release all seven of his songs each day, making a week full of songs. On the first day of the barrage of songs, he dropped Decoy. Its an okay song, I give that song a 6 out of 10. Next he released another song, reviving the Mellowhigh. Greezy featuring Domo Genesis was a better song, with me giving it a 7 out of 10. The following day, he dropped a song called Wasabi featuring Juicy J.

The beat was extremely nice, with Juicy J doing alright on his verse. Then Hodgy came back in the song ending it well and Left Brain repeating his last word for the last five seconds in the song. The two songs after Wasabi were not that great, but then he dropped a song called LP. LP has a nice, sinister beat with gunshots in the background and a creeping beat. Great base in the song. Left Brain is over doing himself. Hodgy pretty much spits sick bars in this song, making it sound incredible. He seems to get better each song. Eventually the last track of the MELLOWHYPE WEEK was a song called What. I thought it was going to be boring, but it was actually a very well put together song. He kind of remakes the song “The Motto” by Drake, explaining how “You only live once” so live it right and live it good. It was probably the only song where he did not swear, except say “n**ga”.

Overall, I believe MELLOWHYPE WEEK was an 85% out of 100%. Songs like Wasabi, LP, and What really made me happy. I do recommend you look up these songs and enjoy them. Also go on Rapgenius.com to understand their lyrics and many other hip-hop artists around.

Zoe Saldana To Play ‘Nina Simone’ In Biopic

Cynthia Mort wrote the screenplay and will be directing the film that is based on Simone’s 1992 autobiography ‘I Put A Spell On You.’

In 2010 at Cannes saw the film coming together with Mary J Blige to be rumored for the title role and David Oyelowo as Simone’s assistant, Clifton Henderson. Blige was dropped due to funding issues. So they needed another Nina Simone. Soon enough, about 5 years later, they chose Zoe Saldana, Avatar (2009) and Columbiana (2011),  to play the lead role of Nina Simone.

It is unknown if Blige is still in on the project.

The film is to begin production Oct. 16 in Los Angeles.

“The Cure” By J. Cole Review

Sorry for the late review for this. About 16 days late, but not too far from it’s original release date.

A solid track from J. Cole once again proving he still hasn’t lost his touch. With the sampling of Kanye West, Jay-Z, and Beyonce’s “Lift Off” off their 2011 duo-album ‘Watch The Throne. With some good lyrics and a nice beat, this one is pretty good. We’ll give this a 9.0 rating.
